12 Things a Medical student can wholeheartedly relate to..

Becoming a Doctor is no child’s play and sure asks for a lot of determination, dedication and efforts! Doctors are the only people who take the meaning of Hippocratic Oath seriously and follow it religiously! Having the power to save someone’s life, to bring a new life in the world, to see someone walk again or to ease someone’s pain are the feelings unexplainable to others!
But, the coin definitely has another side! The process of becoming a doctor, right from enrolling in a great medical college to getting a registration number, is a journey worth lifetime! You face so many hardships and issues in everyday life that they become a part of you! Here are some of the things you might have faced before or are facing currently:

  • Studying becomes a process just like breathing! It never ends and stopping it results in a very bad experience!
  • The fear of Exams and Viva vanishes as they become an event of your day to day life.
  • You are surrounded by human body parts all day! Heart no more sounds like a romantic word to you!
  • Your bedroom/hostel room is always full of notes, pile of fat books and research papers. No matter how much you try, it never looks clean and tidy!
  • The comments and jokes on your handwriting are often cracked even if you write crisp and clear!
  • You laugh on all the medicine based TV shows and movies! They become comic videos for you!
  • Your Lab coat makes you look like you wear the same clothes each day. And, you still love it more than any of your clothes!
  • Laypeople criticize you for using all the Latin and Greek medical terminologies in your everyday conversations but you feel proud of yourself to have remembered them!
  • You are always absent in weddings, get-togethers, birthday parties and sometimes even in your home!
  • Wherever you go, young aspirants ask you for your guidance about the entrance exams, colleges, studies, syllabus and what not! You wonder what exactly you had done to land up at that amazing college!
  • Your relatives, friends and even acquaintances ask you to do their check up even for a slight cold or fever! And, you do that very happily because you consider it as a great opportunity to mingle with them!
  • You work a lot, study really hard and keep patience in everything but you just can’t wait to start writing your name with Dr. as a prefix!

Finally, no matter what, you know you will always cherish these years of Medical College, studies, experiments, exams, vivas and feeling of being a student of such a noble profession!

You love caring! You love healing! You love being a DOCTOR!!
