5 Simple Tips to A Healthy 2021

Apart from the economy, our diets and fitness routines went for a toss last year due to the pandemic. Bulging bellies and tired bodies was a reality for everyone because of the lockdown. As we welcome the new year and things have substantially normalised in most parts of the country. This is a good time to get some good habits in place and kick-start the new year on a positive note. Not only will your body thank you but you will be able to make the most of your time if you follow these 5 simple health tips.

Make self-care a part of everyday routine

We are so engrossed in making sure that everything and everyone around us gets enough attention that we sometimes forget that we are neglecting our own bodies. We are not talking about a Sunday in the month when you pamper yourself. Self care includes a lot of things that we need to do regularly, to keep our body and mind in the best shape. Self care includes getting enough water, taking care of your skin, meditation, enjoying sunshine, caring for a small garden etc. Unless you actively include these things as a part of your daily routine, you are not going to do them regularly.

Start walking or jogging everyday

As simple as going for a walk sounds, its health benefits have been hailed repeatedly. While this is one of the simplest exercises you can add to your daily routine, it is suitable across age groups and people with various health conditions. Gradually, if your health permits, you can even break into a jog or a run. The idea however, is to breathe as much as possible, to make sure you are getting the most of this activity.

Monitor your diet

As cliched as this might sound, we are still not eating healthy. Most of us have an over dependence on one food group while we eat other food groups less than what our body requires. The best way to start eating healthy is to analyse what you eat everyday and classify that into food groups in order to get a complete picture of what your diet and then make changes or additions to it accordingly.

Good sleep is extremely important

The quantity of sleep and the quality of sleep you get affects your health. So not just the number of hours you are able to sleep but also the time of your sleep, the environment and your mood are factors that can influence the kind of sleep you get. People downplay the importance of sleep but that can have consequences that may hurt your health in the long run. Further, you cannot deprive your body of sleep in the week and compensate for it on the weekends.

Reduce your screen time

We are increasingly becoming closer to gadgets in our lives than we are to people and this is a dangerous trend. The screen not only hurts your eyes but also means that your movement and normal human interaction also drops significantly. Just monitor the time spent in front of a screen and avoid using gadgets after dinner unless absolutely necessary.
